About Saint-Tropez: the back story

Saint-Tropez is small: a port, an old town, a citadel and the Place des Lices. Its beaches are at Pampelonne, in Ramatuelle. In summer it is glamour at full volume; in May, June and September it is still beautiful and far easier.

The port

Sénéquier for a coffee facing the yachts, then the Citadel and L’Annonciade.

Pampelonne

Le Club 55 and Nikki Beach on the long beach of Pampelonne; La Réserve Ramatuelle on the hill above.

Arrive by boat from Sainte-Maxime or Cannes to skip the summer traffic.

Bardot and the cinema

The Musée de la Gendarmerie et du Cinéma and Bardot’s golden statue on Place Blanqui; the Tarte Tropézienne she named, on the Place des Lices.

Our advice: market morning on the Place des Lices (Tuesday or Saturday), lunch at the beach, sunset on the port.
