About Cassis and the Calanques: the back story

Cassis lies west of the classic Côte d’Azur, near Marseille, about two hours by road from Nice. Its harbour is framed by Cap Canaille, and to the west the limestone calanques of the national park run towards Marseille.

The harbour

Boats leave for the calanques all year, weather permitting; La Villa Madie, above the Anse de Corton, holds three MICHELIN stars (2026).

The calanques

Walk to Port-Miou, Port-Pin and En-Vau, or kayak; dive with a club from the harbour.

Leave the car at Les Gorguettes and check the park’s fire-risk closures before any summer walk.

Our advice: Cassis is not a half-day trip from Nice: stay a night.
